On Tuesday, October 12, 2021 I was included as a panel member for a webinar hosted by Green and Healthy Maine Homes magazine as part of their “Home and Energy Chats” series. Along with myself, Michael Friedland, Co-Owner of the Lumbery, was Lee Burnett of Local Wood Works and Harold Bumbly of Maine Wood Treaters.
Now you might be asking yourself…Was Mike selected from an esteemed panel of experts on local wood?
The very telling answer is NO. This is because there is no esteemed panel of experts on local wood. There are plenty of experts on forestry, sustainability, logging, conservation, etc…but there are very limited proponents that preach about the benefits of local wood in a manner that actually reaches the general public.
In fact, I have been a carpenter for 26 years and it was not until I decided to open a lumberyard 2 years ago that I learned local wood is an option. To be honest I didn’t even know there were options.
My presentation will try to suss out why local wood is not local and what we can do to change this.
Check it out!
Sincerely,
Michael Friedland and the entire Lumbery Crew AKA Ents.
