Solid construction. Simple design.

Every one of our custom garden products are hand made with 1" thick northern white cedar. Boards are screwed together to ensure stability and longevity. 12" planting depth allows for deep rooted plants. Natural spacing between boards allow for proper drainage. Over time your cedar product will change color from a light brownish-yellow to a weathered gray.

Wood Preservatives

We recommend applying a natural wood preservative to the interior and exterior of your bed or planter. This will help to extend the life of your wood. A variety of all-natural products are available for purchase at the Lumbery. We love the products from The Real Milk Paint Co. as well as Vermont Natural Coatings.

Irrigation Kits

Irrigation kits help to limit water use by allowing water to soak directly into the soil. Options as well as direction and advice are available at the Lumbery.

How to care for your northern white cedar planter

  • Application of a chemical free oil to the interior (prior to soil placement) and the exterior will prolong the life of your cedar but it is not necessary.
  • Do nothing. Northern white cedar is naturally rot and insect resistant. It is the same material used for most fencing. It will weather, and gray and last a really long time.
