3-Lawsuit
I have spent the last two days revising and editing this section. I honestly do not know what the answer is when someone says…”Hey, the Town says you’re in violation. Can’t you just comply?”
What defense can there be when someone accuses you of being a Violator despite the fact that you have been working so hard to create something good? Despite the fact that you have already spent over $160,000 and 25 months in good faith efforts to comply? How can you explain to someone that you have put all your time, energy and money into a project and a community but all they focus on is the notion that you have done something wrong and the only path forward is to spend more time and money to make it right? I can try to break down the absurdity of the Violation itself, I can attack the anti-business rules that handicap my business and I can tell a long story about all the good we have done but none of these strategies seem to be able to remove the foul seed that has been planted and nurtured since 2019 which casts the Lumbery as a troublemaker and a Violator when in fact the only thing we are trying to do is operate our business in a sensible and thoughtful manner. If this is a Violation then I guess we are guilty, we will pay our fine and we will leave Town.
